Homestead is FPL territory, with 1:1 net metering and a $30 minimum bill. Roof and hurricanes in Homestead

Homestead was the epicenter of Andrew in 1992, which is why south Miami-Dade builds to the toughest code in the country: High Velocity Hurricane Zone, 175 mph design wind. For panels that means product-approved mounting (Florida Product Approval or NOA), calculations stamped by a Florida engineer and strict inspection. HOAs in Homestead

Nearly every Homestead subdivision has an HOA. Florida Statute 163.04 prevents them from prohibiting solar collectors or having rules that effectively do so. They can require architectural approval and set placement as long as it does not reduce output (south or within 45° east or west).
